Unemployment Day 28
That seems like a long time. 28 Days. I feel like I have accomplished very little. Except sleeping. And movie/dvd watching.
I still need to finish the wreath. Basically, yesterday was my day of being an absolute sloth. It was quite sad. Oh well. It's a new day!
The weekend with Fe was pretty fun. She came in about 8:45 pm on Friday night. I made our favorite bread bowl cheesy dip and fried ravioli and we sipped on cranberry/pomegranate champagne drinks while we spent 3 hours watching the barely 2 hour long movie, Twilight. I admit that we did enjoy it, although we completely made fun of the teenager-ish-ness of it. I'm sure I'll read the books now. I'm such a sucker.
Saturday we had lunch at Kona Grill. We had their chicken and shrimp lettuce wraps and I had California rolls while Fe ordered Las Vegas rolls. Both were awesome. Near the end of our meal, Colleen and Matt showed up. They would have been earlier but Colleen accidentally locked her house keys and car keys in the scooter seat and had to stop by her house to get an extra set. Sounds like something I would do! We left them to enjoy their yummy lunch (Happy Hour begins at 1 pm on Saturdays at Kona!) and we went to get dressed for the wedding.
The wedding was in Unity Village. Kind of a strange place but the wedding was very nice. The reception was in one of the meeting rooms at Harrah's. It was really nice. They had a cocktail hour with an open bar and a handful of yummy appetizers. Then, the bride and groom came in and cut their cake and had their first dance. Then a buffet style dinner. They had a fresh salad, pasta salad, freshly sauteed veggies, green been casserole, lightly breaded lemony chicken breasts and roast beef in a mushroom sauce. It was FANTASTIC! The cake was a double layer red velvet with a chocolate ganache middle and a true butter cream frosting (no shortening!). It was to die for! Way to go Jennifer on a beautiful and fun party.
Her fiance/husband was a football player at NW Mo so there was plenty of single eye candy around. However, they kind of kept to a huddle so I was scared to approach. At least it was nice to look at such hot and tall boys. Yum.
We took a cab home, called through the concierge/bell boy in the hotel lobby. It turned out to be a Lincoln Towncar limo so we rode home in style! It was $28 for 23 miles...not too bad! And very pleasant and not at all stinky like a cab! I have his number for future rides.
Sunday we got up late and went to breakfast/brunch at Mama's Diner near my place. They have 66 omelets on their menu! I got a philly cheese steak omelet with crispy fried potatoes and 2 slices of wheat bread. It was fantastic! So good!
Then we went to the Dillards Clearance Center at Ward Parkway Center. Fe ended up buying 5 dresses and a pair of shoes for $144! Sweet deal! Plus, all the dresses were Antonio Melani so they were normally around $180 original price!
After Fe left, I didn't do much. I guess I had better get caught up in life the rest of this week!
Dad's surgery has been changed to next Monday so I'm going to spend a few days with Venus down at Mom's before I drive Dad to Columbia for his surgery. I'll stay with Fe and Gus a few days and then drive Dad back home. I guess sometimes being unemployed DOES have its perks!
Tomorrow I had better drop by the MO Career Center. It's been 4 weeks since I got laid off. Woo.
I gotta get my lazy ass in gear.
Alright, going to go ruin my adulthood by reading teen books. Wish me luck!
